We have distractions for a reason. They are ways our deeper self is trying to communicate with us. Let’s explore that realization this week.
First, list 5 of your favorite distractions.
Next, write in the voice of each distraction, letting it express how it helps you. Do this for one minute each.
Eating mindlessly grounds me, relaxes me, and helps me let the stress of the day go.
Sleeping lets me escape, turn off my mind, and retreat from work and worry.
Now, let’s stop ignoring our distractions so we can get a handle on them!
Brainstorm how you can respond to the call of each distraction in more mindful ways.
I can do yoga to feel grounded and I can pray to let go of the stress of the day.
Journaling by hand without an internet connection can help me escape and retreat from work and worry.
Let me know your results when you begin to turn your distractions into calls to mindfulness and healthy patterns!
