Sometimes our work is ready, but we are not. Here’s a simple 4-day ritual that will prepare you to send your work into the world.
Day 1: Finish getting the work ready. Let yourself tinker and re-read and prepare.
Day 2: Bless it and send it. After hitting send, say this out loud to yourself:
I deserve to be here.
My work is sacred work.
I am loved.
Day 3: Write down a statement of what you’re ready to leave behind in sending this work into the world. Then burn, bury, or flush the statement. Take a bath and then don yourself in a garment or piece of jewelry that feels like it represents your new creative self.
Day 4: Write for 20 minutes on something new.
This ritual works because it helps us bridge the transition from submission (and worry and anxiety over what we’ve already done) into creation (and the excitement of what we are yet to create).
Enjoy! And let me know how it goes.
